I am confused about progressed charts. I was born May 8, 1937 -- so
is July 20, 1937 the day I use for my progressed chart? Do you just
use the natal chart (July 20) or do you look at current transits for
someone born on that day?

Hi Dottie... what software or site are you using? There are 2 kinds
of progressions, the day for a year and the planet/sign speed.
I'm guessing you are wanting the day for a year, so progress your
planets 73 degrees or 2 signs and 13 degrees.
From the new chart you look at the change in signs from the
perspective of growth / change. You also PROGRESS HOUSES / ANGLES
too. If your angles change, especially when they reach the end of a
sign - 29 / 30 degrees or the first degrees of one sign is the signal
that there is significant change in expressions of whatever the angle
represents. In this you use your natal chart / positions. Hope this
helps!
