A police department made a study on birth dates and going to jail and
found that Aries were most likely, Sags the least likely. I would say
that makes more sense than if it had been the other way around.

Nice study - what a pity we can't do the Moon signs! Interesting that the
second most likely is Libra. Libra's definitely not always as fluffy as
it's said to be.
The article's not up to much, is it? Saying that Hitler was an Aries. Get
it RIGHT.

It might be worth asking how many people are born in each month. It is
possible that more people are born in spring (Aries?) than at other
times of the year. One would then need to weight the number of people
involved in crime who are born under a sign by the total proportion of
people who are born under that sign. If more people are born Aries
than any other sign then indeed they may be less likely to commit
crime than people born under other signs.

Well spotted - I forgot about that one. You'd need to compare it to a
control group of non-criminals. Does anyone know whether there's any
difference in birth rates at different times of year?

It might also be to do with schizophrenia being more common in those born in
spring. I don't think that corresponds to any particular Sun sign, only
season.

distributed unevenly over birth dates.

It may correspond to Mercury sign or Venus sign though. Especially
Mercury would fit, I think, considering its relationship to all things
of a mental nature, and the very processing abilities of the mind.
Unfortunately birth dates does not give us Mercury signs, though, as
they are never presented broken down on birth year. At least not that
I have seen.

I think it is fairly general, at least in the northern/western
hemisphere, that most people are born in spring/summer. That is,
Taurus and Gemini. So it is not the case that Aries are
overrepresented, at least not versus those signs. Actually, Gemini
being numbered eight in the investigation would probably end up even
further down in the stats. If most people are born in Gemini most
criminals would be too, but that doesn't seem to be the case. (Says
the proud Gemini!)

Also, we do not know how the investigation was carried out. It is
possible they did take this into consideration, though I'll admit I
don't think so.
