Astrology is the parent of the scientific method, developed from the
empiric observations of calendrical copyists and almanac makers in
temples throughout the ancient world. In the process of preserving
almanac information, the clergy, scribes, and historians were able to
view and study long periods of time.
Along with the planetary motions among the backdrop of visible stars,
the calendars listed anything significant in the agricultural life of
the community, including weather and its attendant issues of flooding,
droughts, storms, etc. as well as events important to the community
and its leadership.
Persistent statistical relevance was discovered between the planetary
motions, historical events, and weather --time and time again. The
refinement of these observations and correlations continues to this
day.
