Post by Todd CarnesYou mentioned houses, then started talking about signs. They're not
necessarily (or usually) the same thing.
At any rate...
"On average" it's usually a little less than 2 1/2 years, BUT not all
signs and/or houses are the same size and then there's retrograde periods
to account for as well.
To be precise: in the standard (Tropical) zodiac all signs are the same
size, but a planet may go through some of them faster than others because of
its elliptical orbit. This is only really an issue with Pluto, which has a
much more elongated orbit than the others. The usual Sidereal orbit is the
same, but if you're going by the actual constellations then the signs will
be different in size. I know of very few people who do that.
In the Equal House system all houses are the same size, and the same size as
a sign - 30 degrees. So I imagine you're using one of the other house
systems, in which case your 5th house could (in extreme cases) be anything
from 1 to 59 degrees. No accounting for house systems.
