How long does Saturn stay in one sign? Saturn has recently moved into
my 5th house (Libra) and it looks like it will be there about 4
years. I thought it was more like 2 1/2 years. Does anybody know.

transitting saturn takes about 29.5 years +/- 2 to go around. that's just under
2.5 years per 30-degree house/sign

if your 5th house is large, it could well be 4 years there

You mentioned houses, then started talking about signs. They're not
necessarily (or usually) the same thing.

At any rate...

"On average" it's usually a little less than 2 1/2 years, BUT not all signs
and/or houses are the same size and then there's retrograde periods to
account for as well.

To be precise: in the standard (Tropical) zodiac all signs are the same
size, but a planet may go through some of them faster than others because of
its elliptical orbit. This is only really an issue with Pluto, which has a
much more elongated orbit than the others. The usual Sidereal orbit is the
same, but if you're going by the actual constellations then the signs will
be different in size. I know of very few people who do that.

In the Equal House system all houses are the same size, and the same size as
a sign - 30 degrees. So I imagine you're using one of the other house
systems, in which case your 5th house could (in extreme cases) be anything
from 1 to 59 degrees. No accounting for house systems.

Aproximately 2.33 Years in each sign, depends on the house system you
use.
