Reading Dalton's Tables of Houses, and I'm wondering, is he using
Placidus?

I've tried using Placidus on my computer and comparing the results to
the book, and it tends to leave the 12th House a bit varied from what
the book says.

I do recall that the value for the obliquity of the
ecliptic used in these Tables might have been from
the 19th century. If this is correct, small variations
in your results might thus be explained.

If you used the very same obliquity, then, the
answer lies elsewhere.
