Why astrology should be taught at universities

For most of my life, I saw astrology as a joke. Then I got involved
with a woman with a genius IQ who was a serious astrologer, and she
opened my mind to the subject. After that I spent a lot of time and
energy promoting and defending astrology, only to be called a kook, an
idiot, and much worse.

At the present time, I pay a lot less attention to astrology than I
used to. That does not mean that I have become a skeptic; it means
that I have moved on to other more pressing concerns. That still does
not keep me from advocating this: That astrology be taught in
universities.

Why do I advocate this? Well for one thing, because every major
university has a philosophy department and a theology department.
Neither philosophy nor theology are exact science; yet they are taught
anyway, and they are discussed in respectable circles. Astrology has
elements of both philosophy and theology; and if it is right to teach
philosophy and theology, then it is right to teach astrology as well.

I make no money from astrology, and I do not seek to teach astrology.
I see it as only fair and only rightful that astrology be taught in
universities, for the same reason that philosophy and theology are
taught. It is an area of study in which there is a lot of useful
thought; and even if it is not an exact science such as biology or
nanotechnology, it still has valuable ideas and lessons that can find
positive application in other pursuits.

If it is right to teach philosophy and theology, therefore, it is also
right to teach astrology as part of either philosophy or theology
departments. And I say this as a disinterested observer who has no
interest of being the part of teaching or practice of astrology but
sees how thought in astrology can be of value in education and in
developing people's minds.

Some universities DO have astrology classes.
