The Current Regnal Era (Kingdom of Sweden) & Election 2014

Recently I noted that the Swedish 2010 constitutional reform changed election day, switching it to mid-September from the earlier late September date (previously third Sunday of September, now second). Whether in fact astrologically related or not, there is an overlap between late September and the confirmation of the consitutional change which made the first Bernadotte Crown Prince of Sweden. The date for this was September 26, 1810.

And there is a similar overlap between the date for when Charles XVI Gustaf, the current king, ascended to the throne (September 15, 1973) and the date now chosen for future elections in Sweden.

This association between dates relating to elections and Swedish succession, whether coincidental or not, made me think of country charts and what they are based upon. I have for awhile been toying around with the idea that the moment the monarch accedes to the throne could form the basis for a country chart, somewhat analogical with how we use ingress charts. If valid, these charts would have a great technical advantage in that the moment of death for the previous monarch—the moment of ’the King is dead, long live the King!”—is usually well known.

In the case of the current regnal era of Sweden, the 15th of September 1973 (time and place of the death of the previous king; Helsingborg, 20.35) would thus be the defining date for such a chart.[1] Though—perhaps?[2]—speculative, I have looked into the progressed chart to see what it has to tell us about the Kingdom of Sweden at this juncture in time. These days I am gravitating towards ’quick and dirty’ when it comes to chart interpretation and point out only what I see as the most obvious chart factors.

2013
• January 12—Sun/Mars-opposition
• May 12—Moon/Uranus-conjunction
• October 29—Moon changes sign (Libra to Scorpio)

2014
• January 10—Progressed New Moon

Adding Solar Returns to the mix, the Solar Return of 2012 shows the square between Uranus and Pluto accentuated with the former planet on the Descendant. SR 2013 is more positive, with Mars in partile trine to Uranus, again accentuated. This time we have Uranus within minutes of the IC and opposing Mercury, consequently on the MC, with an orb of just over one degree.
        
        
Interpretation and prediction
   
If I am allowed to say so myself, this is interesting! 2014 is election year, and it seems like the rest of the period we are in will be quite active. With the Descendant involved in the SR 2012, this may involve our relations with other nations as well. This would ease out by mid-2013 however, cleaning the slate before election year, so to speak. The progressed New Moon in the beginning of an election year seems to me most intriguing, indicating that the political landscape will be thoroughly changed in 2014. As far as predictions go, this is a loose and wobbly one, but I suggest that the change, whatever its nature, will be of an order of magnitude which will not allow it to escape unnoticed.

1. The 15th of September 1973 is an interesting date as it is also the birth date of Prince Daniel. Though with no bearing on theory, this seems to indicate that this is a date of importance for the kingdom.
2. Autodidact, I may be reinventing the wheel. If this is accepted procedure in mundane astrology, I do not know of it.

Not a part of the astrological (semi-)prediction in my post, one guess regarding the progressed Sun/Mars-opposition is that it could be related to the developing Assange affair (in the sense of possible international conflict), which seems to be heading for maximum confusion--and in which Sweden runs the direct risk of becoming involved.

It could be interesting to have a look at his chart. Does anyone know if there is a reliable chart for Assange?
